Releated Projects

Union Avenue Soil Remediation

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Due to the historic use of Chromium, the Union Avenue site had impacted soils and groundwater. Both hazardous & nonhazardous concentrations of Cr VI (hexavalent chromium) and Arsenic were detected in the site’s groundwater and soils. As the General Contractor, ERC remediated the soil of this site. The primary objective was the mitigation of plume migration as well as treatment of the elevated hexavalent chromium concentrations in the immediate area. To begin with, ERC installed a Permeable Reactive Barrier (PRB) along the west side of the property boundary to achieve the project’s primary objective.

Secondly, ERC excavated, transported, and disposed of 2,500 tons of hazardous soil from 0’- 4’ BGS. Next, we furnished an in situ chemical amendment. We applied and mixed in the chemical amendment in the soils at 4′-12′ BGS to treat Cr+6 to Cr+3 impacted soils. Subsequently, we furnished and applied 340 tons of Calciment to amend in situ treated soils from 4’-12’ BGS. We conditioned approximately 7,000 tons of soil.

ERC demolished, loaded & transported 600 tons of hazardous concrete building slab and foundations which was direct loaded into trucks & transported to a Subtitled C facility for proper disposal. Finally, the site was finished with the backfilling & compaction of 2,500 tons of imported fill material.

Services

Dry Cleaner Remediation

Location: Columbus, Ohio

ERC managed the design and relocation of city utilities for a former dry cleaner cleanup. Initially, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, waterline and gas lines were all relocated. Furthermore, the existing building was supported by helical piers to allow for excavation, in situ chemical oxidation, loading, transportation, and disposal of non-haz and hazardous levels of soil. Then, ERC managed all groundwater with frac tanks, pumps, treatment, and disposal. Import, placement, and compaction of backfill and restoration of the asphalt parking lot with striping.

Port Clinton, Ohio

Client: Cooper Tire Company
Design Engineer: Hull & Associates

ERC was the General Contractor for this demolition and remediation project. Accordingly, we hired and managed several subcontractors for Demolition, Concrete Crushing, Surveying, Compaction Testing, Asbestos & Universal Waste. In addition, ERC self-performed the in situ soil mixing, waste characterization & sampling, disposal, backfill import & placement, grading & restoration. The project had multiple constituents as waste streams including hazardous levels of TCE, Lead & Vinyl Chloride along with non-hazardous levels of TCE, Lead and other petroleum-based impacts. We removed and disposed of over 10,000 tons of impacted soil.
